The Fugitives

The Fugitives, established in 2007, have released four records, which have been nominated for multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards and a Western Canadian Music Award. Their previous album, Everything Will Happen, spent ten weeks on the top ten Canadian folk charts, and earned them a support slot across Western Canada with Buffy Sainte-Marie and an appearance at UK’s Glastonbury Festival. Their follow-up, The Promise of Strangers, is set for release on January 26th on Borealis Records.

They were really positive about the new album, saying, "Everything Will Happen is the sound of a band showing its mastery of a genre—folk-rock—that’s plenty hot at the moment...Things achieve lift-off early on, with the band lighting out for bluegrass heaven on the banjo-powered “Love Affairs”, a track where the bombastic chorus and drum-violence outro almost hit Warped Tour levels of aggression. From there, the album doesn’t lack for beautiful touches, whether ambient cymbal washes and back-porch fiddle on “Wilderness Years” or round-midnight brass and sombre piano on “Ring”."
