The Fugitives

The Fugitives, established in 2007, have released four records, which have been nominated for multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards and a Western Canadian Music Award. Their previous album, Everything Will Happen, spent ten weeks on the top ten Canadian folk charts, and earned them a support slot across Western Canada with Buffy Sainte-Marie and an appearance at UK’s Glastonbury Festival. Their follow-up, The Promise of Strangers, is set for release on January 26th on Borealis Records.

March Tour! (Also: our new album is done! What, what?)

Hey all, We are psyched to announce that we're done tracking our brand new record, due this fall on Light Organ Records. We holed up in Toronto for six weeks and got to work with amazing producer John Critchley (Amelia Curran, Dan Mangan, Elliot Brood) on the new tracks. Thanks to Toronto for an amazing time: for the great musicians who played on our album, the peeps who came to our weekly residency at the Cameron House, and all the courageous singers who braved the city's biggest snowstorm in ten years (say what?) to sing gang vocals with us. Tons 'o love!

But, first things first! We are touring this March! Vancouver - Winnipeg and back. If you live between those two cities, chances are we are coming to your face. So come hang out. Full dates here. Boom! Can't wait.

The Fugitives Signed To Light Organ Recor

Thanks to everyone who came out to all the shows in the UK! We had a blast and will be back soon. Please check our vblog for some of the shenanigans we got up to. And now! Some extremely exciting news:

The Fugitives are proud to announce we’re putting out our new album on Light Organ Records. Light Organ is home to many of the nation’s top emerging bands, including the Zolas, Louise Burns, Fake Shark Real Zombie, and our own Adrian Glynn, so we’re very psyched to be working with them.

We begin recording the new album in January with producer John Critchley (Dan Mangan, Amelia Curran, Elliot Brood) in Toronto. We’ll be playing a residency every Monday at the awesome Cameron House during that time, so please come rock out with us in Tdot. In addition, there is a Western Canada tour planned for March. Please see the gigs page for details.

We are extremely excited about the potential of the new songs and will be working hard over the next few months to make sure we get them sounding killer. We feel really blessed by the opportunity to work with so many talented people and to be supported by those who believe in us. We aren't taking it for granted, and we're hard at work!

"Grown Ups Have it Easy" - Our Benefit Show for Green Thumb Theatre

Hey all, The Fugitives are headed back to England this November. Hurrah hurrah! But right before we go we are doing a benefit show for Green Thumb Theatre - an awesome organization that brings amazing progressive theatre productions into high schools. The theme of the event is "Grownups Have it Easy". It is a celebration of how easy it is to be a grownup. We will play an intimate, awesome, off mic set. Plus, there will be special guests: Vancouver fringe festival phenom Travis Bernhardt doing magic!

Award-winning novelist Pete McCormack doing storytime!

There will also be BALLOON ANIMALS, FACE PAINTING, and a MASSAGE CORNER, and LIVE BODY WAXING (see below).

It takes place on Sunday, October 21st at Little Mountain Studios.

All of this, and it's only ten bucks!

But wait. There's more. Brendan and Adrian are running concurrent fundraising campaigns. If Adrian raises one thousand bucks before the show, Brendan will wax his chest live onstage. If Brendan raises a grand, Adrian has to wax his legs onstage.

See Brendan's campaign

See Adrian's campaign If you're coming to the show, donate in advance to make sure they SUFFER. This will be tons of fun, but mainly, we love Green Thumb Theatre. They provide arts to schools in a time when they are going through massive budget crunches that are gutting school arts programs. We NEED THEM IN OUR SCHOOLS. So come to the show and make a donation. Woot woot! And thanks.
