The Fugitives

The Fugitives, established in 2007, have released four records, which have been nominated for multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards and a Western Canadian Music Award. Their previous album, Everything Will Happen, spent ten weeks on the top ten Canadian folk charts, and earned them a support slot across Western Canada with Buffy Sainte-Marie and an appearance at UK’s Glastonbury Festival. Their follow-up, The Promise of Strangers, is set for release on January 26th on Borealis Records.

The Fugitives on MUCH

Hey all, We stopped by the MUCH office in Toronto at the beginning of tour to play them some tunes for their awesome MUCH Office Sessions. We played them a new tune, "Sturdy", an old tune "Start a War", and a sexy ass cover of Usher's "Nice and Slow".

The Fugitives in The Georgia Straight

It was awesome of the Georgia Straight to do a nice article/review on the new album and tour for us. They were really positive about the new album, saying, "Everything Will Happen is the sound of a band showing its mastery of a genre—folk-rock—that’s plenty hot at the moment...Things achieve lift-off early on, with the band lighting out for bluegrass heaven on the banjo-powered “Love Affairs”, a track where the bombastic chorus and drum-violence outro almost hit Warped Tour levels of aggression. From there, the album doesn’t lack for beautiful touches, whether ambient cymbal washes and back-porch fiddle on “Wilderness Years” or round-midnight brass and sombre piano on “Ring”."
